The cells of the skin that do not develop into cancer causing cells are known as non-melanoma. Skin cancer symptoms are classified into two namely squamous cell carcinoma and basal cell carcinoma. Non melanoma types of skin cancer are less dangerous when compared to melanoma types.
Some of the symptoms of skin cancer are red lump or mole like growth on the skin, formation of rough, dry and scaly patches, and development of small spot that is pale in color with smooth surface, flat bumpy areas of the skin that turns color. Any new growth on the skin should be monitored for cancerous growth inside.
Among all other types of cancer, skin cancer is highly prominent and the USA alone over 1 million people are affected each year by skin cancer. Skin cancer if detected at early stages can be treated and cured by simple procedures. As the cells start multiplying it turns into tumor that is called lesions. Not all the tumors are cancerous only malignant tumors cause danger.
The symptoms of basal cell carcinoma (BCC) are smooth bump like growth on the skin on the areas that are exposed to sun. Ulceration of the cells with occasional bleeding and small blood vessels that are clearly visible is other symptoms of basal cell carcinoma. For squamous cell carcinoma, there may be formation of red scaly patches or growth on the skin that may start bleeding forming ulcers. Normally the lesions or bumps that are cancerous take brown or black color and sometimes changes its color in due course.
