Any chronic pain in the abdomen with other symptoms like fever, chills, nausea, vomiting and constipation is to be addressed soon. Prompt examination by a doctor is necessary to find out the cause. Right abdominal pain indicates region below the ribcage which extends till the pelvic floor. The major organs present in the right upper portion are liver, gallbladder, stomach, duodenum and appendix followed b sigmoid colon. Any deviation from normal functions in the above organs can cause mild to severe pain in the right side of the abdomen.
It is not only the stomach that performs digestive function but many organs put together work on the food we eat and convert them into energy. Number of blood vessels run through these organs which are connected to a network called aorta. Any block in these blood vessels can cause swelling and abdominal pain. Women have uterus, ovaries and other reproductive parts in the pelvic region which can also cause pain in the lower right abdomen.
Often the causes of lower abdominal pain are due to underlying organs or muscles.

Infection can occur anywhere in the digestive system causing sudden pain along with symptoms like vomiting, diarrhea and tiredness. Do not ignore these signs and consult your GP quickly.
- Pregnancy :
As the uterus continues to grow to accommodate the infant, other organs will be pushed upwards high in the abdomen. This can generate pain and indigestion for women.
